Soul-sucking Dementors hover over the school, threatening Harry, while a supporter of He-Who-Cannot-Be-Named lurks within the castle walls. And Harry will be forced to confront them all. Directed by Alfonso Cuaron and based on J.K Rowling`s third book, this wondrous spellbinder soars with laughs, thrills and the kind of breathless surprise only found in a Harry Potter adventure - Mischief Managed!

Cast

  • Daniel Radcliffe reprises the leading role of Harry Potter. To help understand what an "alienated teenage Harry" was going through, Radcliffe listened to music by the Sex Pistols, The Strokes, and The Dandy Warhols, and watched the films The Bicycle Thief and The 400 Blows.
  • Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley
  • Emma Watson as Hermione Granger

Alfonso Cuarón instructed Dan, Rupert and Emma to write an essay on their characters, explaining what they thought about them. In a case of life imitating art, Dan was pleased with his short essay, Emma wrote sixteen pages and Rupert did not even bother.

In addition, several new actors joined the cast:

  • Michael Gambon takes over the role of Albus Dumbledore, the Hogwarts Headmaster, as Richard Harris, who played Dumbledore in the previous two films, died on October 25, 2002.
  • Gary Oldman plays Sirius Black, an escapee from the Wizarding prison Azkaban and Harry's godfather. He was "surprised by how difficult it was to pull off", comparing the role to Shakespearean dialogue. Oldman suggested Sirius's hairstyle, while Cuarón designed his tattoos.
  • David Thewlis plays Remus Lupin
  • Timothy Spall as Peter Pettigrew
  • Emma Thompson as Sybill Trelawney
